You will be aware that last year we opened a brand-new practice in Westergate which has received critical acclaim and phenomenal client feedback for both its design and clinical service. It has always been my vision and ambition to extend a similarly improved veterinary service to Storrington and its neighbouring communities, so myself and the AVG team were hugely excited when the opportunity arose to acquire the Mill Stream Medical Centre next to the library car park in Storrington.
With ample parking and state of the art facilities the site will provide a complete hospital-style service under one roof, from routine veterinary care through to complex treatments, and become the flagship for our existing practices in Pulborough, Ashington and Westergate. We are currently totally renovating the Mill Stream surgery and will open for business on Monday 26th February following an open day on Saturday 24th February.
I would like to reassure you that the Pulborough practice will continue to function as a comprehensive branch service. However, all major surgery and inpatients will now be located in Storrington where we will be able to provide an excellent standard of 24-hour care.
The benefits to you of this new service are considerable – state of the art operating facilities, x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy suites, separate dog and cat wards and a dedicated cat waiting area to minimise stress for our feline patients, as well as ample on-site parking.
Due to the size of the premises we are also planning to offer additional professional services from visiting, highly qualified vets who specialise in certain fields of work such as cardiology, dermatology and ophthalmology. This enhanced range of services will not only complement our existing team but remove the requirement for you to travel long distances to visit specialists when necessary.
We are also due to submit our application to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for ‘Emergency Veterinary Hospital’ status which is an accreditation only awarded to those practices that pass rigorous, ongoing assessments and achieve outstanding standards of care.
As with our other surgeries, the priority is to promote a relaxing and comfortable environment for you and your pet when you come to the practice whilst maintaining the highest level of clinical care. To this end, the surgery will be staffed by members of the same loyal and trustworthy AVG team.
Our entire AVG family are committed and personally invested in this project and despite the improved facilities, pricing will remain competitive and consistent.
The driving ethos behind AVG has always been ‘continuity of care’. In an age when more and more practices are outsourcing their out-of-hours work, we still believe you should be able to rely on your own practice in a familiar setting at a time when your pet’s need is greatest. Consequently, we have launched a sister company to AVG which will operate from the Mill Stream site. South Downs Emergency Vets will be staffed by a team of committed veterinary surgeons and nurses with advanced certificated training and decades of combined experience in emergency critical care.
Our team will ensure that out-of-hours, your pet is met with a fresh, well-rested emergency vet and that within normal hours your pet is treated by your fresh, well-rested regular vet with seamless transfer between the two.
We are delighted to be one of only a few practices in the County who can offer this reassuring service to their clients. Our out-of-hours team will always be fully staffed and available to see your pet and will provide round-the-clock care and monitoring of all overnight patients with regular client updates. Our dedicated team are literally ‘on site, all night’.
I hope you will agree that this new addition to our comprehensive service will give superb levels of care to your pets 24/7.
As a friend of the practice, who has been an important part of my career and journey to date, I wanted to personally invite you along to the open day on Saturday 24th February between 12 and 4pm. We will be conducting tours of the new premises and there will be fun activities for the family.
On behalf of the practice, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty and continued support.
